Whether you began using AccuroEMR from a paper-based system or switched to Accuro from another EMR, you probably experienced the initial discomfort of adjusting to something new. Things usually get harder before they get easier (we call that The Trough of Despair) but sticking with Accuro has likely brought you to a more efficient way to work and an evolution of your practice.
The field of medicine likewise keeps evolving, and with regular Accuro releases every year we’re constantly working to keep our software updated and in step with those changes. We know, though, that adding more bells and whistles to our products comes with additional responsibility to you, our customers. That discomfort of something new and unknown can get in the way of fully experiencing it, and a year and a half ago we realized that many of our clients used only a fraction of Accuro’s ever-expanding capabilities. It seemed a great opportunity to offer a new kind of customer support, so we created the role of Practice Consultant.
We enlisted some of our top trainers and asked them to help users find ways to do more. The results of that initial pilot were tremendously positive, so QHR made the decision to invest heavily in this role. We now have Practice Consultants deployed all across the country, each responsible for clinics in a defined area. And while their initial mandate was to visit users face to face while supporting some clinics remotely, the business disruption caused by the pandemic has created an opportunity to ramp up our remote support. The outcome has been highly effective, and we’ve been able to support many more users on any single team.
We believe that all Accuro users can move along the curve of meaningful use to get more out of their EMR, and sometimes a little help is all it takes:
- Learning to configure a quick action key for things you do routinely
- Discovering that Alt+Click opens a second window on the item you just clicked
- Using a module that’s part of Accuro but not turned on yet, like Waitlist or Traffic Manager
- Taking advantage of electronic prescribing (where available), or embracing virtual care when the world turns upside down
